The DMC-18x2 Series are PCI bus motion controllers designed for cost-sensitive applications. These controllers support 1- to 4-axis configurations and provide control for stepper or servo motors on any combination of axes. The DMC-18x2 enables various motion modes, including linear and circular interpolation, contouring, electronic gearing, and ECAM.
To maintain a cost-effective design, the DMC-18x2 Series excludes certain features such as support for five to eight axes, optical isolation on inputs, dual encoder inputs, and an auxiliary FIFO and DPRAM communication channel. For applications requiring these features, the DMC-18x6 Accelera PCI controller is recommended.
Programming the DMC-18x2 is straightforward with Galil’s two-letter command system and a suite of software tools, including GDK for servo tuning and analysis.
